I've got a 5 ton one on the bigger wheels, single axel, can't remember what they called it, only use it for some feed grain, just getting a bit of surface rust now, time to sell!

I think they are one of the worst trailers ever made,and cant understand why anyone would want one.There are loads in farm sales up here,and make between £50 for scrap ones with no floor in (like the one i have got with a tree growing up through it),and maybe £450 for a really good one with a floor that hasnt got any holes in.They are rubbish,with a sort of pressed steel floor that is almost impossible to repair.
They were not rubbish in their day, they were the "stewart " trailers of the 60,s and 70,s when the competition was wooden sided ferguson or smiddy made trailers that didnt readily take grain sides.
we had 3 x 3 tonners which were always being loaned out when not in use.
my first tractor driving job aged about 12 was carting in grain off the combine with weeks trailer and international 434.

The wooden side/floor was a more durable design, this was made in the same era;

if kept inside and away from dung.
no grain sides on that

Ahem,
Our plus 40 went away for scrap 15 years ago. Soft as:poop:
Got a couple of older Kay(Milnathort) trailers still in regular use.
One of them will be over 50 year old. Father says he remembers grandfather going to look at/buying it. Was one of the first they made with solid steel rather than wooden sides.
The newer part wooden sided one has got woodworm now though;)

Yes I've done 4 of them now
We made ours out of 2mm tin folded into n profile then slotted them in side rails on and end caps.
The floors are a good design but a bad idea

I would make the next floor out of galvanized tin then paint

I need a complete frame really, there's nothing left work salvaging of the existing one. What size steel do you reckon it would need for the two main beams?

We had 2 MF badged trailers ( Built by GKN l believe?) bought before we bought the Weeks. They had wooden floors and steel sides. OK we kept the floors well oiled and the sides got painted occasionally but they worked hard carrying muck, potatoes and when fitted with sides grain ( After a damn good power wash of course! ) But they lasted well and were in much better nick than The Weeks when we sold up even though all 3 trailers used to do the same jobs .
