Still 90 days as far as I knowBought a few cattle on van numbers do i have to keep them 90 days to make them assured or does the van make it any a,shorter while
Thats what i thought doesnt really matter as they will be sold live but will i be able to say they on a van numberStill 90 days as far as I know
It's nothing to do with FA is it ?
No, the van number is linked to the holding they were on at the time, so you can’t sell from your holding with someone else’s van number.Thats what i thought doesnt really matter as they will be sold live but will i be able to say they on a van number
Irrelevant. But you will need your own VAN if you sell for killing.Bought a few cattle on van numbers do i have to keep them 90 days to make them assured or does the van make it any a,shorter while
So if i sell within 90 days i will also have to get a van number as well as rt more red tapeIrrelevant. But you will need your own VAN if you sell for killing.

I know that but some of these cattle could be away within 90 days it never used to matter but now you need a van or rt for the abbatoirs to export offals etc
If you’re RT assured you don’t need VAN as well

Can you sell deadweight with VAN then ?Just ring your vet up and tell them to get you a VAN number, they’ve obviously been on farm within the last 12 months for your annual health review for RT so it’s just a paperwork exercise for them to do the VAN
That’s exactly what my vet did for me, had a visit last May using the Animal Health and Welfare Review grant or whatever it’s called. Did RT paperwork but I was destocked when they wanted to do audit so I got a VAN number from him to sell some stock in December before they delayed the VAN requirement
There might be some that take unassured but I know Dunbia has to be farm assuredCan you sell deadweight with VAN then ?
In the live ring yes not one of the buyers is bothered about rt its just since this van thing started you have to be one or the other for them to export offals etcso you can sell un assured fat cattle?
And woodheads again its for the benefit of the supermarketsThere might be some that take unassured but I know Dunbia has to be farm assured
Apparently Woodhead’s were buying hoggs at Darlington last week, do they normally buy from the ringside or are they really short of numbers? And woodheads again its for the benefit of the supermarkets
Been for the last 3 weeks so will probably be buying van as well as rt its a,load of bol****s the whole thingApparently Woodhead’s were buying hoggs at Darlington last week, do they normally buy from the ringside or are they really short of numbers?
Totally agree, been doing it for years.Been for the last 3 weeks so will probably be buying van as well as rt its a,load of bol****s the whole thing
Wouldn’t be a bad thing for someone with a bit of time on their hands to watch and see if that’s what they’re doing, there’s still a lot of FA lambs going live so they might be being selectiveBeen for the last 3 weeks so will probably be buying van as well as rt its a,load of bol****s the whole thing
