Variable seed rate

I drill with a Vaderstad Rapid with the iPad interface. Is there a DIY method of achieving variable seed rate using self generated maps?

Thanks.

Not sure if the rapid has that function as yet, only the headland and halfdrill shutoff by way of mapping. Do you use gps for task control? How do you find it?

iSOYL application control will speak to Vaderstad E-services via the gateway. This would mean having 2 ipads in a tractor cab as the only downside. Alternative would be isobus task management then via e-services.

Yes. If have the ability to make fertiliser maps from NDVI satellite images then choose the NDVI image that you feel is representative of an average years establishment (I use one from April 2014) and create a new fertiliser map called 'Variable Rate Wheat Seed Map'. Add in your parameters like low and high rates in Kg/ha, and then create a new 'fertiliser' called 'Wheat Seed' consisting of 100% nitrogen so that 1kg of "N" on the map equates to 1kg of seed sown by the drill.
Save it to the format your drill requires, and Bob is your fathers brother.

To take this to the next level you need to save all your plans together as one 'field' (a single whole farm plan) so you don't even need to change maps between fields; and apart from a bit of tweaking of mins and maximums if you absolutely have to, you can reuse the same map for years no matter what the variety, just calibrate the drill for your intended TGW sowing rate and adjust your % rate up or down ?
