The UK experienced an extremely wet autumn and winter which left the UK with the lowest winter wheat area planted for decades. This was followed by a dry spring which has presented establishment challenges for our spring crops and hit yield potential of our winter crops. The uncertainty around Brexit and the inconsistent political standards on how our food is produced and sourced have added an increased layer of risk into farming businesses. In addition to this, we are currently in the middle of a global pandemic which is impacting food demand and supply and therefore on-farm decisions.
