Whether it'll reduce the annual bill I don't know. T
You need to put your knee firmly in your accountants chest & tell your fees should be less.

If you enter all your transactions into Xero correctly during the year, come the year end it should save your accountant`s staff a considerable amount of time. That saving should be in your pocket, not your accountant

I wouldn't like to comment on how other accountants operate, but I would certainly agree with @upnortheast that one of the key selling points of something like Xero is that your accountant has regular access to your data, and if the bookkeeping is up to date and correct then it should certainly reduce the number of adjustments and queries when preparing year end accounts.

And still charge, most likely, when all done for them!

No experience of xero but I quite like Quickbooks. I did ask my accountants which to go for and they said it didn't matter to them as they were familiar with all of them.

Used to use the avalara free bridging tool when MTD first came about, but then went to Pandle when avalara withdrew their tool and the rules changed. Pandle is free and I would recommend. Our accountant has since retired though, and the new accountant manages the VAT too, should make it easier for them when they do the accounts.

I think I'll try asking her first. I fear that if I went anywhere near her chest, I would be in serious trouble.

Royal Bank of Scotland offer free accounting software that you can do VAT on. It's called freeagent. I have a couple small businesses on this. Rest on Xero.

In a similar boat here myself. Accountant told me to get onto Receipt Bank (now Dext) and upload the invoices/receipts to there and then he can integrate with any of the main software tools from there.

Is anyone on here using Dext? If so what cost is it? We are only a small part-time operation.

Dext is good but you must still check your invoices!
It is normally about £20 a month but your accountant may be able to offer a discount
I too run a small business and did not think it worthwhile.
I reconcile myself and uploading documents especially if they come by email is no work. Of course Dext does the analysis, but I would not trust it 100 % others would probably disagree though

I see on lloyds online banking are advertising accounting software for businesses. £5 a month.
Is anyone using this? Is it any good?
Is RBS part of lloyds and therefore using the same software?
The choice seems to be endless.
