Vegan animal sanctuary

I will say this now, it will end in tears, terrible welfare and the lot will need to be euthanised because trading standards get involved or they run out of money. Farm livestock being kept by untrained idiots with no experience is a recipe for disaster. Shoot the lot and be done with it. Utter waste of time.

You should need a license, formal qualification or certificate of competence to keep any kind of farm livestock. Muppets or well meaning good-lifers/crazy spinster types should never be allowed to keep animals, they don't have a fudging clue and fail in most respects of animal husbandry. I've seen a case some years ago where a fudging good lifer with a million pound mansion, brand new shed and shed loads of round bales he'd bought complaining his animals weren't very well- turns out the t£*$ was literally giving them a handful of hay a day and the fudgers were starving to death, cattle of surprising ages all runted because they had been chronically starved despite the fact there was oodles of straw and hay parked not 20 feet away. People like that need to be beaten with a kipper until sense arrives.

The trouble is who issues the licence?
I am sure I know which organisation would love to do that.............and they can fudge off on their red tractor!

Anyone with a formal agricultural qualification is automatically granted one.

Anyone with professional registration is granted one automatically, this covers the non-NDA people, craftsman certs etc.

Older farmers who have years and years experience can be granted grandfather rights by their vet (who can judge competence as easily as anyone and all livestock boys are obliged to see their vet at least once annually now anyway).

Anyone else can go fish and can't keep animals legally giving trading standards the right to seize livestock automatically if they so choose.

It won't ever in tears, it won't be their fault. They believe everything they do is correct, and is justified. They have no shame whatsoever, when they need money for fencing, food, or the hot tubs they've installed for paying "guests", they just put a crowd funding appeal onto Facebook.

Any animal ill health is a result of the appalling conditions that they had to be rescued from, nothing to do with the total lack of animal husbandry knowledge. (Husbandry probably isn't a term you're allowed to use in this snow flake politically correct nonsense world).

They have the conviction of born again Christian religious zealots, and the same utter shameless contempt for how they are living their lives as the cardinals of old who treated the Nuns as their personal prostitute's.

I could not believe when they went around asking to be given any "extra" pet lambs following lambing. They would undoubtedly then publicise how wonderful they are to have rescued these poor mistreated cuddly woolly babies 🤬

Just had a look at their page, see theyve "rescued" 17 calves, they're going to be fun when theyve grown up, wont be long until they run out of room that's for certain and a 4 ye aw r old steer doesnt quite have the same cute look a baby calf has so think they'll run out of money eventually, especially when they realise it's not as easy as it looks
They had some cattle up at Ferne the rescue place near here and it was actually quite interesting seeing really old steers cos you never normally see them, I think they had the tallest cow in the country at one time though not when we went, they were all well cared for up there though from what I could see.

Done right by people who know what they are doing then fair enough if that's what folk want to spend their money on,
Done wrong by folk who don't have any idea [and won't ask because the people that know would be livestock farmers] then its a disaster

Both their calves had scours on 25th feb, so called vet out , then next day one had bloat and they had to get the vet again to stomach tube it and stick a needle into it to let the gas out. Then they had to give it oral AB as well!

Jeepers it gets worse and worse!

won’t be their fault the calves have got ill, definitely be the farmer they sourced them from

They must be monitoring this thread -the ‘vegan’ requirement appears to have disappeared 🪄
The job advert had been shared to the local community page.

There followed an uproar about the "discrimination", leading to the advert being deleted. The vegan requirement was then also removed from the original advert.

They're not following this thread..... yet.... Because I haven't received any death threats and visits from the sspca following spurious complaints...... Yet
