Ok. I get the ethical thing about poor wittle cute animals. But what about the ethical thing of the destruction of the Amazon to grow soya beans? (Yes, and beef).

What I dont get is s**t like Hungry Jack's having a plant based meat substitute that fools carnivores ffs. Why would a vegan eat something that supposedly tastes just like what they wont eat on the basis of ethics??.

However, if they're cashed up and that shallow as to only have morals for animals and not the rest of the destruction being done to the planet, then hell yes. Take there cash I say (y)

If you make your own veggi food, a very economical way to eat, and you can balance the nutrients. Veggi food in supermarkets is just about maximising the profit on very cheap ingredients, often made to taste palatable with sugar and salt, with little regard to its nutritional content.
It's like the emperors new clothes, but there are too many vested interests, from lifestyle sellers to the big supermarkets, that keep marketing the stuff, as an ideology, that is somehow better for you, which in most cases it's not.

So what if vegan food costs three times as much as meat.

The issue isn't the price of the vegan choice the issue is the fact that meat is too cheap.

In early 50's my grandfather said a fat lamb would pay a workers wage for a week.

£400/ we now, @£125/ head where lamb prices are now they should be three times that to be both on a scale to 1950 and to match vegan food.

The whole global food industry has been a race to the bottom by big business. They have now latched onto high margin vegan food, lets see how long that lasts.

Its actually really worrying in terms of long term health. I didn't eat meat for over thirty years, and just about the only ready meal was tofu, so I used to cook from scratch. My children always ate meat as I thought it important they had choice and a healthy diet.
A lot of the food being sold is nutritionally very poor, especially for children, because meat, eggs and dairy products have micro nutrients which are very important for child development.
If you have very little money some mince, milk, eggs and few veg, is a cheap way to make a balanced meal, which you can just about buy anywhere, the supermarkets are just making people dependent on their products.

Many years ago we went to a freinds house for a meal, the children ours and theirs had a seperate meal to the adults, we have fresh vegetables from their garden, new potatoes and steak, the kids were served up chicken dippers chips and peas, also fresh from their garden.

I came away thinking we must be weird because we always ate the same as our children mealtimes and healthily too!
