Vermin & Pigeon Shooting - North Yorkshire

Hi,

I'm a responsible and experienced 45 year old field sports enthusiast based near Harrogate, North Yorkshire and would be pleased to assist you with any pest control issues in surrounding areas, free of charge.
I work in the IT business and could provide you with a bit of advice, technical support or web design in return for permission to shoot on your land. I can be available most days and at short notice if you need some urgent help with a crop. In my spare time I'm a keen fly fisher and gun dog trainer and love spending time outdoors with my wife, daughter and two German Shorthaired Pointers.

I currently have shooting permission on a number of farms in the Ripon and Thirsk areas and am also a member of National Pigeon and Pest Control covering the North of England.
I am fully licensed and insured through BASC and also the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association.
I take great care around crops and livestock and don't mind assisting when out in the field.
I shoot with a range of guns appropriate to the land, including airguns, moderated/silenced small bore shotguns and larger 12 gauge shotguns, so something suitable for the majority of situations.
I have a full decoying setup for both crows and pigeon, including a magnet/whirly, flappers and floaters.
I can provide a "Permission to Shoot" agreement which can be tailored to your needs, that we can both hold a copy of along with a copy of my insurance for peace of mind.
An extra pair of eyes on your land can also help you with farm security.

If you have anything available (or know someone who does) you can contact me on here or via my:
Mobile: 07702 333323 or Email: [email protected]

Regards,

Chris Carter

We shot 100 pigeons in two hours on a farm in York today. Would have been a 200 bird day but the farmer was still rolling the field when we arrived and we couldn't get on until 4.30pm.
A job well done if I do say so myself!
Thanks Gareth.

Thanks for the call Richard, I'll see you soon.

40 Rooks and crows shot on emerging spring barley this week for a farm near Dishforth.
There were 80+ on the field early in the week but that's made a good dent in their numbers.
Also crows and squirrels removed from a game shoot on Forestry Commission land near Harrogate.

Anyone got problems with pigeon around the York area that they need dealing with?
There seem to be bigger numbers around York than further north.

Thanks for your efforts this week Chris, much appreciated

I've been getting some good bags of pigeon feeding on OSR the last few weeks since it's come cold, including 120 on Monday.
They are really tucking in on some fields and I'm seeing some serious crop damage while I'm driving about on business.
I usually get out shooting a couple of times a week so if you have a pigeon problem please get in touch and I'll call in for a chat.
I'm regularly shooting on farms around Ripon, Thirsk, Northallerton, Bedale and Masham areas but anywhere within an hours drive of Harrogate considered.

Hi Chris,

I live near Wetherby and although no experience with the services you have mentioned above I am a keen shooter and would love to learn more about supporting farmers in this way and getting in to Pigeon Shooting.

I am insured also through CPSA and available across York/ Harrogate/ Ripon/ Thirsk etc.

My day job is in executive recruitment in Bramham and I regularly shoot clays at Hazel Bank in Knaresborough on weekends.

Should you ever require an extra gun or be open to someone accompanying you to watch quietly and learn how it is done, it would be greatly appreciated.

kind regards,
Elliot

Hi Elliot,

I used to work at Bowcliffe Hall in Bramham myself and I also go to Hazel Bank regularly.
I do sometimes need a hand so will keep you in mind.
Send me a text on 07702333323 so I've got your number.
Can't promise anything as I often go out at short notice between jobs but you never know.

Cheers,

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Thanks, I will send you a text over and it would be good to keep in touch.

Bowcliffe is a great place to work but my hours are quite long being in Recruitment so I am only really available evenings and weekends but it would be great to accompany you sometime should circumstances allow and learn the ropes.

Might see you at Hazel Bank sometime!

Thanks for getting in touch.

Elliot
