Very dry autumn.

I've never known it so dry for the time of year, never had both milkers and dry cows out this late.
Never sown wheat this late either. Usually mid October is the latest.
A complete contrast to the last 2 years.
If we don't get some serious rain over winter we could be in trouble next summer.

We drilled into dust in December 2016, we couldn't drill any earlier as we were waiting for a green up in the pasture we were spraying off.

This year has been a bit damper than that in the autumn but we are on the back of 150% of normal rain in the 12 months to October 1st.

Don't be to pessimistic, fed up of rain to date but today very nice and dry.
When I do autumn sprays if I go of tramlines lines it can kill crop with rain as it has compacted the ground.

Was pretty wet here through mid oct till two wks ago, ground tender still but better than normal for the time of year at least we can tip muck in the fields instead of on hard standing, first decent frost this morning a month like this would be great or even three.
