Vetch problem

In the last few years, the amount of wild vetch in my spring barley has increased from, “nice bit in the straw the cattle will love it” to this year “the barley is out of sight how are we going to combine it, the wrapping is going to be terrible.” I did preharvest with glyphosate which did stop it growing and enabled me to harvest but previous experience has taught me that it doesn’t kill it even at high rates. I usually just spray glyphosate on the stubble in the autumn as I’m concerned to much cultivating in the autumn may just spread it. I intend to plough in the spring before sowing spring barley again. Has anyone any experience of getting rid of this weed? If so how as spring herbicides only seem to check it. I only have a photo of it growing in the spring showing it's rhizome roots I should really have taken one before harvest so the full scale of the problem could be appreciated.

I had some sown vetch survive glyphosate last autumn and ended up in some wheat and some rye crops.
Zyper plus Ally SX seemed to give it a good kicking and it was a big plant virtually in flower when I hit it.

thank you for the reply B'o'B however I expect sown vetch is a completely different plant than this stuff grown from rhizome roots . I did spray this with Pixxaro at .5l/ha combined with finish 50g/ha in the spring which did check it slightly but not for long.

Apologies as it’s not what you’re wanting to hear but I’m just admiring the plant from you’re picture and what a beautiful deep root it has put down whilst also fixing nitrogen! Keep thinking of growing a bit, one mans rubbish and all that, hope it clears up for you

delighted to hear from you Durry cows please bring a large trailer and a long handle fork you can rake together all the roots you can, after I have worked the land in the spring and cart them off for me I'm sure they will grow exellently for you too when you get them home

I appreciate it’s a bit of a different situation, but I would expect Zyper to be stronger than Pixxaro on it.
Having said that you gave it a good bit of fire power with that mix, you couldn’t be accused of holding much back!
I would say you are really probably only really left with hitting it multiple times with different modes of action throughout the growing season.
