Vets

I guess you are in the same boat over there with a lack of large animal vets but if any of you know a large animal vet looking for a change of scene then my vet is looking. They would happily take on a vet couple. We are in the middle of French cattle Country with mainly charolais and limousin it would be a good opportunity for someone looking for something different. Any ideas where they should advertise?

To be honest I think they are looking anywhere they can think of. They had a new vet last year but she is off, there are 2 partners one of which will retire in 3 years and is quite frankly knackered with dodgy knees which isn’t a lot of help generally. Apparently no one wants to work anymore and if they want to be a vet it’s the easy small animals that they go for. I will mention the publication though just in case.

Facebook groups. There are a few vet career ones now. Think they get more success than vet rec these days.

Just to make things more difficult in UK, there is now a RCVS ruling that all practices wanting to employ new graduates have to have a member of staff who has passed a new qualification to support them - passing the modules is really quite difficult I understand. ☹ Will bear it in mind.

Ha ha Matthew. Our vets were asking Mrs Czech if she thought there was any mileage in advertising in the Czech Republic a while back. Most of the staff our vets get are Spanish, mind one partner is Spanish himself

The partners are both Belgian at ours and the other vet is French. I think she will become a partner when the older one retires so they need one to replace him when he goes but still need an extra on top. I think they are getting desperate!

Our other partner is Belgium. I wonder if he is a bit difficult to work for as the staff don’t seem to stay long; and the bloody blood testing season must be as boring as hell and not really what you have in mind when you train to be a vet
