Vicon Ro-edw - geopoint

We took delivery of a new RO-EDW sower in recent days and a mechanic from the sales company called out today to give us a run down on how it works.

While going through the boundary settings he mentioned that they had manually adjusted the geo-point to 5m. He said that they'd found the geo-point settings from the spread chart to be a bit problematic for field/headland size in Northern Ireland.

We're spreading at 24m most of the time. Has anyone else had problems with the geopoint settings from Vicon? Sounds a bit strange. Would a manually adjusted 5m geopoint setting not cause double dosing on the headland when opening the shutters? Spreading at 24m with Urea, the book is recommending 12m.

I can't remember what it is but the geo point will automatically set for each fert but there's another box in the menu that's got to do with the length of your tractor etc that kind of overrides the geo point I have mine set at 7m to get it to shut off and open up at the right time .

I was just in it this morning but I'm back on drilling now so can't get you a picture

Why have you gone with the manual option vs what is recommended by the Vicon settings for each type of fertiliser?

I haven't gone with the manual option as I said the auto set sets the geo point when you load up each fert for example I'm sure the one I was spreading this morning the geo point was 11.6m the setting I'm.on about needs to be fixed the same as it's to do with the length of the tractor.

Can you post a picture of the screen where they advised you to change it ? I'll not be spreading till later in the week .

I'm only guessing this is the same settings that were talkin about

Les did mine but any less than 6.5 and it's shutting off too quick.

The 4ws on the fastrac means it fairly swings the back round turning onto the tramline so I maybe need it a bit different I'm sure my first 1 was 7m but I kept the screen and it got updated so wiped it and I didn't take note of what it was .

I've certainly never had to shift the actual geo point so that's why I'm thinking there's been a bit of confusion somewhere?

Our installer told us to keep the lower setting at 5m if spreading at 24m and ignore putting a setting into the upper box (the source of the upper setting coming from the fert recommendation in the app). In this particular instance the app said 12m.

The methodology for the 5m was half the working width (in this instance 24m=12m) minus 7m = 5m.

No I definitely don't do that .

The one you've got at 5 I need at 6.5 at least and the upper box has the distance automatically put in . The lower box is the one that overrides the upper .

Mine is kv TL but I don't know if you're vicon is the smaller machine or the larger .

Also I'm 24m and that one you have at 5 I never change once it's set . Been spreading for 4 full seasons like that now with the old machine now into my 5th having just got a new one and never had an issue yet

Have you a KV control box populating the upper box automatically after you select your fertiliser?

We use the phone app then upload onto Topcon.

Yeah I've a tellus box . I assume it changes the upper box . In all honesty I've been in there 4 times in the last few years and they're all in the last 2 weeks since getting the new spreader

Ahhh got ya now. So Tellus automatically populates the upper box in your system, but you have the override option engaged at 6.5m?

Yeah that's how mine is . Unfortunately it'll be a couple of days at least till I'm back on it so I can check but I was in ot the other day playing with the distance.
Basically I'm playing with that distance so it's shutting off just as I'm turning onto the tramline so I can hear the fert stopping when my tractor is halfway round the turn . It's proving to be a bit more difficult with my new tractor than the old one due to 4 wheel steer. But 6.5 seems to be about right

That's what mine looks like .

The top box definitely changed itself on a different fert

I'm still playing with it between 6.5 and 7m as I'm undecided as what's working best for me . I'd have thought 5m would be shutting off very early
