Use to be a vicon dealer, never had a brand new machine come in to us in parts. Good they are replacing it with new.

All the ones ordered for winter would come crated direct in curtainsiders, only thing I remember coming assembled once was a twin rotor rake. It had obviously been thrown together as it nearly fell apart during first season, it had been assembled with paint still on the mating flanges etc which obviously wore off!!

Dealer says it was PDI by a young guy with a temper-when he wasn’t having a good day everything went wrong. Had the vicon rep up to have a look too and he says he’d never seen it happen before. My machines being picked up tomorrow and a brand new machine delivered to their yard Thursday pdi’d properly then to me. Should have replacement machine by end of the week.

Can’t fault the dealer so far, these things happen, just a good thing we’ve got rain forcast for the next few days.

This all sounds a bit strange. The Dealer and Vicon have visited, and the problem is put down to a young-guy with a temper, so the machine is to be replaced?

If this was in any other Industry there would be claims flying in all directions. What about the acres that have been tedded incorrectly, this will have monetary implication/losses. Who is paying for this ?

Doesn’t look from the picture that rotors are wrong way - the outside rotors would throw outwards and the middle 4 would form two swaths whereas he’s getting 3 swaths so think rotors are spinning correctly

Got a (new to me) Fanex 643 this season and not had a lot of use yet. It was cheap and needed some TLC but now fixed up. In silage it teds out flat full width first and second pass. First ted in fairly thick timothy hay (15 - 16 bales / acre) was ok and spread out flat - but - every pass thereafter starts to row up more and more as the hay makes. Last pass (5 / 6) almost looked like had been through with a haybob to row up. Something not right! Grass comes through the rotors and gets thrown almost straight back. Rotors going right way, tines on right way, lengthened / shortened top link, wheels up / down, fast / slow forward speed, revs up / down... and still does it. Still got few things and combinations to try - tine angle is straight up / down at moment. Hay still makes and ground certainly gets better chance to dry! Seems to be soft on crop - not breaking up after multiple passes.
