Videos of the Bicentennial (200th) harvest on our American family farm

Hi everybody. I am from the USA and am an 8th Generation Farmer. I started a Youtube channel to showcase life on a farm. My 2 young sons will be in the videos as they provide good entertainment and excitement. Spring planting will start within 2-3 weeks for us and I hope to be able to make more videos to show how things are done in our area of the world. We mainly raise corn and soybeans, with a field of wheat thrown in every once in awhile. I included a video of last year's Harvest. If you have any feedback or comments, please let me hear them.

Looking good. My brother ran the same combine for a while. It went up in flames a few years ago, now has a 2388. Lovely little thing.
I like a bit of classic American machinery here too!

We actually have two 1660s and hopefully we will be able to trade them both off and upgrade to a nice 2388. That would be a good fit for us. What machine did your brother replace the burnt 2388 with?

Thanks for posting the interesting video. Just wondered which part of the US you are? Judging by the volumes of traffic on the highway, and the proximity of other farmsteads, you are not in the Mid West, perhaps Pennsylvania?

The other question I have is about the date of harvesting the soya beans, before or later than corn?

You’re close, I am in Ohio. We typically start beans first but start corn shortly after. We have our own gas well so drying corn only costs us electricity. We will start running corn when it’s 25-26% moisture.

It seems interesting all. A few things, tils your phone on the side while filming and get some wind suppresion. I am not saying my filming would be any better but these two things pee me off (quite easy to pee me off though).
Question, what's the obsession with the number of generations, I see quite a few youtube channels with the generation count in their name.
I myself am only 3th generation, according to the cliche, and experience till now the one who will break the business.
Keep going, every channel started out with nothing.

You are definitely right. I just took short cell phone clips last harvest. Never planned on putting them into a video. All my filming now is done landscape style. Our farm is one of the highest points in the county. If I waited for the wind to go away I probably wouldn't have any video clips. I think the generation thing is just about pride. Also, it's easier to remember a YouTube channel with a name that sticks out.
