Voltage reg Kubota 7100

Got a little Kubota putting out 17+V on the battery so I've just been running with it disconnected to avoid it boiling the battery but it's a pain not charging.

Opened up the regulator tonight and this look to be melted which would explain it being f'ed? Can get a new ones about £40 but checking it can't be anything else (tried diff alternator and battery).

Also found this other wire (not the red, that's the battery ) no idea what it should be connected to and if related to the reg problem?

Not so bad its charging ........................
Lads do put a switch (if its the weekend) on where the regulator should go, give it a bit of a charge, you can set the voltage with engine revs, then when charged, flick the switch.

Well you need a new one anyway, so just proceed with caution when you plug the new one in.
External regulators are hard to fault find, so hopefully you have the problem.

That’s called de-sulphation mode, chuck 17 volts at the battery to blow the crap off the plates. Pay good money for that in a fancy smart charger. ;):ROFLMAO:

Extract of Electrical System from WSM below, might help you.

See Fig N-4 and N-5 on page 5 for charging circuit.
