Voss aka electric-fence.co.uk ... Problems???

Hmm. I was looking for the biggest solar setup I could find and can't find anything anything else quite like this.

The 3 x reels that were sent here in error, were u/s. The gears all came off the plastic spindles of the one I tried. Complete Crap.

I should say, that the Agri-supply cheap 3x winders look the same as the Voss units. Not even Chinese monkeymetal, more chinese recycled plastic bottles I would say. Classic example of getting what you pay for...

The proper Voss website is:

Who we use all the time.

If you look:

Apart from anything the prices are higher!

Can you put too big a panel on? In order to keep it hidden from view mine might get partially shaded either end of the day. If I put something like a 60w on a 6J fencer can it damage anything if I put a charge controller on?

We use 80w panels with built in controler on any mobile fencers. £60 from ebay, have decent car battery and a fencing unit. Its a PIA to move around tho

I am fed up with the undersized panel that was supplied by Hotline for my solar pumps, and have a 50watt unit for this time. which will deal with thirsty coos better!

80w with controller, for 60 quid is good value.

I bought mine with a charge controller all included, the one I linked above have gone up z fair bit in the last Yr or so.

But something like this is what I got, I just wired up a couple of croc clips from the charge controller to the battery .
I only use one battery but mind will charge 2 . One first then the other, if required but I just usebone battery and it stops charging when the battery is fully charged , just like your ordinary mains battery charger ,

like this
It comes with the appropriate size gauge controller and wiring , just got to get in to the battery as I mentioned above, and just read the instructions.

Look at if this way and Just to be clear , look upon the solar panel and charge controller as a glorified battery charger...its the 12v battery that you normally use that is running the energiser , that means the energiser won't get damaged and the battery won't be overcharged either of course.

Best bit is we just use scringey old batteries that wouldn't normally last much more than a day on a high output energiser, but on panels like the above ones they are fine and you can walk away from them all spring summer and autumn.

Thers so many useful things these days, that make life easy I should think youngster's don't know their born :sneaky:

Ps. Its better for battery health and longevity as well, because they dont run right down no where near as much , if at all.
