Surely you have to help your own industry! That is why I asked about there Ag Policy! After all the press this last year or 2 I wondered how 'safe' they were?

IMO UKIP are a one trick pony, so not particularly interested in anything beyond controlling migrants and borders. But their farming and countryside plans are below. Pretty vague so you can interpret them how you want, but don't appear terrifyingly mad or anything.

Agriculture

Post Brexit, the UK will be free of the costs and impositions of the Common Agricultural Policy. We will move from a system which subsidises large landowners to one that supports food producers, environmental protection and food safety.

• Leaving the EU will enable UK to design a tailor-made agricultural policy, rather than a one-size fits all scheme, designed to benefit continental farmers.

• Offer a wide range of grants with tackling anti-microbial resistance as a major priority.

• UKIP would introduce a Modern Food Act to ensure traceability and origins of raw materials.

• Create a National Agricultural Council to ensure ‘joined-up thinking’ between different Government Departments for food, farming and environmental matters.

• We will re-establish the Agricultural Wages Board for England, which would protect the incomes and conditions of farm workers.

• Legislate for food labelling to show country of origin, method of production, transport and slaughter.

I would vote UKIP, but, I feel a lot of people at the heart of the party are racist and that attracts a lot of followers that are against “foreigners” living and working in the uk. They may well struggle to shake that stigma. As said above. Politics needs shaking up in this country no matter what colour party you favour. Voting now is choosing the best of a bad bunch. Shame.

I agree, i like anybody that wants to come here, work, pay tax and abide by the laws. I would swap one of our lazy sods for each foreign worker that comes here. I think farage needs to start a new party and keep the racists out, ukip are not much cop without farage.

Agree with that, we have to many lazy generations now who want 30k a year at the age of 20 for a 10hour week. And that’s hard work for them. Not all but a lot feel entitled.

I have a guy who works on and off for me. He voted out due to all the “foreigners” taking the jobs he wants to go for. My words to him were Bruce, you don’t want to work on the roads, railways, bins etc so exactly what jobs are they taking from you. [emoji23]‍♂️ shame we can’t unselect our MP’s and start again.

Perhaps if there is loads of jobs available and the dole is stopped we can force/starve the buggers into work. I love the fact that the foreigner is quite happy to start at the bottom and work there way up to improve there lot .

Let's hope the current bunch of career clowns are so hopeless that they accidentally cause no deal on the 12th. Letwin is behind the extension plot and he has a great history of f**king everything up.

It's unreal. It's clear the EU would cave on the backstop at the 11th hour if only someone had the balls to put that choice in their hands. Germany and others are going to suffer big time if we go WTO. We would be better off with a good deal too. Sadly Mrs. May is a modern day Chamberlain.

But we now have a Marxist and potentially Sinn Fein running Brexit. Happy days.

Voting for UKIP or Nigel's Brexit Party is likely to split the Conservative vote, and let Labour win.

So please don't do it, unless you have a sizable Euro account and want the £ to plummet against the Euro.

But what do I know. Many labour voters who voted Leave might well switch. And if they do, I would guess that they will support Nigel rather than the now defunct UKIP.

I cannot vote for the current Tory party. Even if it means a massacre at the ballot box, they party needs to be gutted. This cretinous form of politics started with Tony Blair in my view.

I take your point but it's gone too far.

I certainly would, having voted Con all my life, I wont be doing so again unless they get rid of all the dead wood lefty liberal types and replace them all with straight talking no nonsense people and have a proper "leader" only issue being I only think there is one suitable candidate for leader but he doesnt want the job.
It will be very interesting what happens in the local elections, plenty of Con councillors down this way, be interesting to see how they fare.

Having posted the first bit I found out from The ELDC website that we have 2 choices in our ward, Con and Lab!! So I found out it was our present Councillor up for reelection. Facebook time!!
I googled him and messaged him! He is coming over on Thursday, should be an interesting conversation. He is actually the agent to a Conservative MP in Leeds!!. He also believes Leave means Leave and apparently wants out as soon as possible.

P.S Plenty of Tory councillors this way as well, a rural area like Gloucestershire!

UKIP was a single issue party that over time did become a proper force for good with some good policies.
It lost the reason for it's existence 3 years ago and I have little confidence that it is very credible now as most of the soul of the party disappeared after its 'success'.
For local elections, I wouldn't worry too much. I've worked with members from all parties and nearly all are very good with party politics being generally irrelevant. You get the odd 'tool' everywhere although in my experience they seem more likely to be Labour.
