Voting Conservative

After hearing that a junior transport minister says "owning a car is so 20th century", it makes me wonder if the party has been taken over by urban green activists. What am I expected to do, use an e scooter?

If you live in a large town or city, owning a car for pleasure is rather outdated.

If you don't believe me, try driving across London-you're average speed is likely to be less than 10 mph!

If you live in the countryside, your own transport is a necessity

Voting Conservative is now a vote for eventual disaster, they have been taken over by green zealots without a care for the average working family, whilst I might not agree with many of Labour's policies & have never ever voted for Labour there is no doubt that they have always been more interested in the welfare of the majority whereas for now at least the Tories seem only interested in those with plenty of money to spare!

The green zealots seem to be drawn from an urban and very wealthy coterie of supporters, who really annoy me as a country man and farmer.

It’s almost reminiscent of the aristocracy of hundreds of years ago who would clear the peasants off the land to create a hunting sports area, except this time this round it’s for rewilding not hunting. You just get the feeling we are an inconvenient nuisance for their master plan. But where food is supposed to come from doesn’t seem to occur to them, or they are happy to rely on imports while turning England into a giant Centreparks. This green utopia they dream of is an unaffordable luxury if done on a large scale. It will impoverish millions.

And it’s the patronising condescending policies that annoy me.
Sustainable Farming Initiative. So the assumption is we are all morons who aren’t already farming sustainably.
Local Nature Recovery. Assumption then is we’ve destroyed everything.
Public money for public goods. Well I still adhere to the principle of private property so stuff your public money and I’ll keep my goods private thanks.

lifelong Conservative voter (and very keen on being green too) and to be honest with all the urban woke outpourings from the conservative party (Ben Goldsmith etc) I feel I don't have a party to vote for any more.

Imagine if you were ill or had a long term condition. You really would be risking your life.

As a young man I lived without a car for years in Europe. The inability to move quickly where you need to carrying large loads hampers your life chances in so many ways.

It also costs you money not to have a car. I found that out by renting a car. I could work longer hours and reduce my journey time by hours. Which meant the car paid for itself just on the commute.

That particular junior transport minister has been on a few junkets abroad, paid for by the tech companies and big biz that would rather have you hire an EV/e-scooter/self-driving pod from them by the hour than own one yourself. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

As to green activists, his best mate Zac Goldsmith (yes, the one who was ennobled to keep him in government after the voters of Richmond Park threw him out at the last general election) and Carrie Antoinette seem to have filled his head with green crap.

Are you sure there was much in his head before they got to him!
