Not the best of pictures, taken last weekend at thanet as it was on route to Herne Bay airshow, appeared over the hedge as i was drilling managed to jump out and watch her go over.
My dad was in the RAF and worked on every vulcan in service, aswell as many other planes, victor, buccaneer, lighting to name a few, but he said the vulcan was the best, couldn't beat standing behind it listening to roar of the olympus engines as it was about to takeoff, so graceful but so manoeuvrable, nothing vertical climbed like they did. There's something about it after seeing it fly over me at fairly low level that was spine tingling. Awesome! Let's hope funds can keep her a static display and away from the big metal graveyard!

we saw it from Haddington show this year. absolutely tremendous piece of machinery! Brought back memories of winter ploughing in East Lothian uplands many years ago and watching them come over the Forth from Leuchars. Usually we were above them until they got quite close and then they would pass over very low. lower than the 200 ft limit on some occasions! Amazing!
There used to be one at East Fortune museum.

As I remember it they had a silver belly, but camouflage painted on the top of the wings.

At least you all got warnings of them approaching, seem to remember some brown trouser moments as they appeared without warning at heights below the radar detection !!!

Just come upon this thread name I must add my twopence. I used to live in Stockport when young and during the cold war (goodness I must be over 21) the Vulcan's at woodford were on standby and had to test the engines every so often. Although I lived ten miles away the noise made your brain hurt. Each year the woodford airshow featured the V bombers (Vulcan, valiant and victor). No health and safety and I have tinnitus now which I am sure came from that.
