VW Amarok future prices

Anybody that read a previous thread about a vehicle quandary I have, have a view on the future values of Amarok’s now they’ve been discontinued. Anything on forecourts are now big money upto £70,000 inc vat for 20 plates ex demonstrators.

I’ve found one on a 20 plate with 8,000 miles for £40,000 + vat. If I bought and ran it for 2 years and then sold it with 6 months warranty remaining and a total mileage of around 35,000 miles where do you think the value would be? Bearing in mind by that point in time the new Amarok will be out although it’s basically will be a Ford Ranger with VW badge.

Will the proper VW versions hold fast, money wise or will be see a big price drop meaning I’ve bought high and sold low?

I dont think it will basically be a ford ranger with different badge. Not sure where this is coming from?
Some talk of the v6 returning in the new one.
They are getting a cult following though. So id say it'll still be worth £25k. So you lose £7.5 k per year. If its what you want id go for it. you are doing what 13-14k per year? You may find there will be a defender pickup out by then.

It will be obsolete and look like any other used pickup, and currently on here anyway not many want a VW without a long warranty.

from 2022 the ranger and amorak will have the same platform. Was announced a few years ago.

Hilarious comment from a confirmed Land Rover owner who now suddenly finds his vehicle of choice is actually cheaper than the competition, for once!

I did look at a amarok before I bought my disco 5 in 2018,think they wanted 45k + vat for the V6 which I thought was ridiculous considering it looked so square and bland inside & out that it really belonged in the 80’s 🤣😉

I looked at one in 2019 and couldn't see how it could be at least 15k dearer than the ranger I ended up with. Mate of mine has one on a 12 plate and it's cost him far more than my 07 Navara ever did.

I have had a Ford Ranger Wildtrack quote with the same spec as an Aventura Amarok priced to me today at £33,950 + vat. The differences are its on 18 inch wheels where as the Amarok is on 20 inch and the ranger is a 200hp 2.0l 10 speed auto while the Amarok is a 258hp, 3.0l v6 8 speed.
So the ranger is £6,000 + vat cheaper than the OP's 8,000 mile Amarok. Had the Amarok been new and they have not discontinued them, them I am not so sure it would even of been £6,000 and would probably be closer still because 18 months ago a V6 Amarok Highline was low 30's + VAT.

Yes i know but someone said it will be a ford ranger re badged!. It will in effect be an amarok rebadged as a ranger if you use that logic!

Theres a video knocking about that suggests info from within VW is that it will be predominately Ford because VW want to offer one but doesn't want the hassle factor. I did ask my Ford dealer today while I was looking at the Ranger and he agreed saying the murmurings within Ford is that VW will just rebadge it. Bit like the Nissan and Merc shambles which ultimately has failed because Merc drivers don't want to be sat in a Nissan which is what they are exactly having to do.

My mate drives for a van and car sales company.
He says that out of all the pickups he had driven the amarok is the most comfortable and refined. He also said he dislikes the ford ranger and would sooner drive one of our tractors.
Overall a transit van is his drive of choice, his opinion not mine.
Why would VW brake a winning formula ? Probably had to fund a big pay out ? Mercedes-Benz seems to be on it too.
P.S. I love my amarok.

Funny that, the VW salesman told me the opposite!. I do hope they keep the v6 engine option on both though

Clearly the Hilux with the big new engine is the kiddie to beat.

Anyone who wants to drive a transit van preferentially is hugely suspect in my view- a tarmac salesman in disguise.
mate has just got a new hilux. 70 plate invincible x. He isnt impressed at all. very agricultural sounding and feel to the interior. Would that have the new engine?
