My LC Amazon is converted from the active suspension to non active springs and dampers.
£700 odd plus did control arms at same time £80 each.
£5 k seems dear!

i was going to suggest this sort of route. Had a similar issue with an Audi RS4 but turned out there was a known issue and if you mentioned the word 'complaint' the work was then done FOC.

One of the best cars we’ve owned. We have not spent a lot of money on it, I will say nothing just general maintenance. It is very good on brake pads and tyres and economic driving around it will do an average of 33/ 34 mpg It has normal suspension not air suspension. You can drive it for miles and get out of it still fresh, and if you want to boot it it’s got the power to go. We send it occasionally for a service which costs around £400 at an independent VW specialist. On the back of us buying this car it has sold 5 touaregs to our friends who have purchased them and never looked back since. It can not come with a higher recommendation than that.
It’s on a 2011 plate, done around 96,000 miles, been across fields, coped very well with mud. One of my friends who has a Touareg cannot believe where we take it. He is so precious of his that he cries every time I take mine across the fields with him as a passenger. Model is v6 TDI bluemotion.
The wife and I cannot bring ourselves to sell it, we’ve kept this vehicle longer than any other car we’ve owned for our day to day running vehicle.
They're not difficult to service yourself. The filters are all easily accessible from the top and if you fill the fuel filter up with fuel before you put the top back on it bleeds itself. The electronic oil level is a pain, but if you look up how much to put in first it saves a lot of time.
Brake pads are easy to change.

Had an early 2.5tdi touareg. Couldn’t fault it, the only time it got stuck was in a bad winter on road tyres - had the drive with center diff etc just not the grip.

Can't understand what special tool is needed ,,the suspension is on bolt on parts ,,shocks, springs, roll bar bushes ,,all removable with spanners or a rattle gun

It's an electronic - hydraulic suspension system on the LC.

It is NOT 'bolt on parts' and it is well known to be bloody expensive to sort if it goes wrong.

I drive an aged toe rag (05) - very comfortable, good to tow with, even 2.5 is plenty quick enough. It’s been reliable, just having some lower suspension arms now but has a hard life. Road tyres are a waste of time if you’re going off road.

this is the exact reason that lc3/lc4 are more sought after 2nd hand than the lc5. personally i would get rid and get another landcruiser, either an lc3/lc4 or ideally a 100 series. the air suspension on the 100 series is easily removable if it does cause problems, and lower spec ones were coil sprung from the factory. expect mich higher repair costs on a touareg than a landcruiser, hence the 2nd hand values of each.

I have just sold my Touareg with 170,000 miles on the clock .2,5 diesel, manual box. on 04 plate. Was an excellent vehicle up to 160,000 then problems started e.g. high pressure fuel pump, prop shaft etc. But I would recommend the early variants as limited electrics etc.

Id Fix the LC5 before buying that V10 thing.

The ad touches on a couple of the pricey niggles. But look at the book times for simplish jobs that'd shaft you.

Currently have a Landcruiser LC5 which has just been diagnosed with a £5000 suspension fault. The truck is 10 years old and I’m not sure spending 5k is sensible. We buy any car have offered me decent money for it but not really enough to buy another LC by putting another 5 or 6 k towards it.
I keep seeing V6 Touaregs of around 2015 to 2016 build that look good value. 60000 miles for £21 - £22 k. Seems as though they will tow 3.5t which is useful.
No livestock so not going to be slinging a dead ewe in the back, mainly for moving myself, parts, fuel bowser and staff around. I’m not afraid of it getting dirty inside or out and I am fairly careful with my vehicles.
Does anyone have one on farm, are they reliable, any comments?
I’ve had both Navara and Hilux pickups and I’ve also had LOTS of back surgery so whatever I have needs to be comfortable.
Other option is pay for the repair and keep the Landcruiser.

I took an Amarok from 100k miles to 150k miles with little trouble until someone nicked it.

Now got an auto 180hp one that’s up to 70k miles.

pretty sure it would be comfortable enough, unless you really were looking for luxury barge levels of comfort.

That looks tidy. But looking the pics - I thought they were on coil springs on the rear but that is on leafs?

How is a car used as farm truck treated tax wise, can’t claim vat back but are you taxed as benefit in kind? What can/can’t you put through as business cost?
exactly the same as a tractor/van/pickup (other than the vat) as long its wholly for business use
