Quite 18 years old, new defender 90 commercial £35k , £2k year for 18 years...., I know banana needs more seats though.
2k a year plus another 3k a year for repairing it as soon as the warranty runs out.

I'd rather run an old touareg than any out of warranty land rover, and I'd rather run an old Toyota than an old touareg.

Id go 2010-2013 range rover v8 diesel. Has the power, the comfort and will be cheap. Plenty about to fix it!. looks ok to be parked at the queens head too (picking up food for workers to avoid BIK obvs!)

Good truck. No issues with mine at 5 years / 50k
If you can find an Escape model that adds diff locks, low range and a bigger fuel tank, and loses some of the bling in favour of plastic exterior trim
Check tyre availabilty. Last time I looked I struggled to find an off road biased tyre in the right size and ended up with an all weather option. Great on the road in all weathers, not so much muddy track / field
I find seat very comfortable. Friend of mine with a bad back finds it too flat.

I tried one yesterday. I loved it, the comfort was good and the performance was superb. Just don’t think it’s quite big enough in the boot space. I have found an Escape model at sensible money if anyone else is looking for one.

I have been shopping in the £10k -£15k bracket for a pickup. Mainly looking for a 3 litre Hilux but it is pretty though going. The demand for pickups is crazy. Your money doesn't go far. I am gradually moving towards a Touareg V6. So much more car for the money involved. If you can get a Euro 6 compliant one the running costs appear similar. I just fear all of the electrical toys in the VW and what it will cost when/if they go haywire

Pretty much all you need to know there. Running costs similar, repair costs absolutely astronomical compared to a hilux. If you would be able to afford repair costs if it did break it is a lot of car for the money

Most people on [arable] farms drive pickups for tax purposes. Far better vehicles for most for less money. Most pickups running around with nothing in the back. Toureag fine but v expensive to repair and used price will reflect that

I was testing a x5 on Friday 90k miles full bmw service history and 2 years bmw warranty, seriously considering it as an option. I'm getting more for my money, another farmer up the road a has bought a Q7 and loves it

My hilux was stolen last weekend, insurance only offering £12.6k. Across 6 of the major car selling websites there are only 14 available in my colour, spec, age, mileage, gearbox etc. The 14 average out at £19950.
