Over priced those ones, the going rate is £40 unless they're nearly new.

We did our first recording in many years tonight just milking on the front 20 units. I quickly remembered why I gave up recording last time. It's a PIA job and was bitterly cold tonight, I reckon it could take a week or two to get feeling back in my fingers and toes. .

I'm guessing you want F+P as well as cell count?

I'll be interested long term but this was just a trial run for SCC before starting quarterly testing next year. I don't think they're designed to test 7% fat in sub zero conditions. But the time we finished there were pea sized lumps of butter floating in the metres.

We use the ambic samplers for quarterly SCCs and Johnes testing. Simple to use, clean and cheaper than the Waikatos

I nearly went down that route but I decided that I want to measure yield as well. We have too many cows already so will be culling fairly hard this year and next unless the TB situation improves and I can sell some. Full recording will give me a bit more info to base culling decisions on.

Its one of the things I came back from LIC Conference thinking about.

I'd like to think in time that genomic testing will have advanced sufficiently that I can test all the females as calves and stop them entering the herd in the first place

Only just come across this thread. I do believe we've some sat in a shed at home not in use in anybody else looking for some. There was 12. Whether all 12 are still there I'd have to check. Obviously I'll be in line after married 2 the mob to sell mine [emoji1303]
