who is delaying purchase of agchems until they appear on Farm Marketplace...imminent last Friday....but I can't wait much longer.Seems like a stand off with farmers the only losers. When they finally become available, I think it would be interesting to see what caused the delay ,and who were the parties responsible. Any chance Clive?

Timely thread - all being well there will be a lot more on the site this afternoon

This morning will be mostly spend adding them

Then a couple more suppliers coming next week all being well

Sorry for the delay, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes and countless meetings to make sure prices are right and supliers "protected" form the pressure buying groups and some parts of the industry are trying to apply to them / us !

It will be worth the wait !

If the manufacturers /suppliers are prepared to sell a chemical to Farm Marketplace at £x then why won't they supply the same chemical to the buying groups at the same price? The buying groups generally cover their costs by charging a levy on each sale or by charging their member an annual subscription. ...not by putting a margin on the price ....why will they supply you cheaper @Clive?

Wait ....the penny has dropped ....the buying groups are putting a big fat profit margin on the price as well as the levies?

Buying groups don't charge a big margin to be fair - they are well priced but they do need a margin on product plus their annual membership fees and commitment by members

The same product on marketplace.farm can be cheaper as it needs much less margin and no anual membership fees to cover its costs being online and super efficient, free form office fulls of staff in fancy offices etc !

From a chemical point of view think of it as a new buying group but free of membership fee, commitment and with very efficient costs meaning minimal mark-up is possible meaning better prices for farmers

The traffic that TFF and marketplace.farm has makes it way bigger than even the biggest uk buying groups so we are well placed to get better deals as this gains momentum

IF it gains momentum.

There may well be a huge number of TFF members, but they're not all here to buy chemicals. A great many don't need chemicals and many of those who do will be happy with the service they have received in the past.

Plus, many of them will still want to pay a membership to a buying group for other services and if they're going to pay that annual subscription they are going to want the best from it. Those who are members of such groups need to make it work otherwise the groups just close down.

The big then get bigger. The small get squeezed.

I'm absolutely sure that if it does gain momentum a huge multinational with remove the thorn in their side by swallowing it up. Problem removed.

Maybe that's the whole idea? ;)

we have been through this before Pete ! - why would a farmer knowingly pay more for the same product ? Im sorry but if I can buy a product you sell cheaper from one of your competitors then I will do so. Marketplace clearly doesn't suit your business model but its woking well for other suppliers and certainly will give us farmers access to better prices and 24/7/365 convenience without paying membership fees or committing to unpriced goods etc

its big (and long overdue) leap forward for farmers

here you go ! about to press the button on setting these live ( this evening is the plan) , there is a far bigger distribution area and that will b extended to national within the next 10 days

Prices will vary up and down as stock levels run up / down, DON'T use marketplace prices as a stick to beat up existing suppliers as liek a seat on easy jet the price or stock may not be there next time you check in !

There are qty discounts hence the 'prices from" but you don't need huge amounts to access best prices and I'm sure everyone can understand the economies of delivering 1 can vs several cans that do exist

Alphacypermethrin (1ltr) – from £17.54 a ltr

Difenoconazole (1ltr) – from £27.35 a ltr

Metazachlor and Quinmerac (5ltr) – from £21.27 a ltr

Iodosulfuron-Methyl-Sodium (2kg) – from £77.45 a Kg

Clomazone 360 (1ltr) – from £51.85 a Ltr

Glyphosate 360 (20ltr) – from £1.82 a ltr

Clethodim (5ltr) – from £19.12 a ltr

Metazachlor (10ltr) – from £10.59 a ltr

To see the products on www.marketplace.farm you will need to be a registered user and have added holding number etc to become a verified farmers as is only sensible for such restricted use product

when live these products can be bought here https://www.marketplace.farm/farm-marketplace-chemicals/ and you will see the actual brands and product data sheets / lables rather than just the active ingredient list above

I reckon those prices are pretty dam hot ? certainly lower that I've been buying at and below any buying group price that I'm aware of right now ?

We have and you're right in many respects, I've said that before. I'm just speaking as (obviously) a supplier and also for farmers who like to stay loyal if they are treated accordingly.

It is long overdue in many respects. I'm not trying to steal anybody's thunder, but we used to watch The Apprentice a few years back and I remarked to my wife that if I won it I would set up a similar business. There you go, I'm streets ahead of you!! :D:D
I just don't have the knowledge or inclination to expand on my minds brilliant foresight!

You know full well why I'm narked with you Clive and it's not this undoubtedly great idea.

Wasn't able to get the account live by 6pm this evening and so will need to get approval in the morning to list all the products live, they aren't like Marketplace which is open all hours.
