Think the hopper is 1.5 tons (jcb loadall bucket full....itll roll that out in just under 6 minutes on number 4.5
Yes I have one...mine won’t roll it flat as it’s fitted with fluted rollers which is what I requested .you don’t want barley rolling out flat these days...the grain is broken into about 3 piecesdo you have one?
If that’s right it will do around 15 ton per hour? Seems a lot.
On setting 4.5 is that given a good flat sample on dry grain or just smashing it up?
Yes fits it perfectly....it won’t roll it that quick if the moisture content of the sample is higher, it’s only because the barley I’m currently using is quite dryCertainly seems pretty quick for being the smallest mobile machine they do.
our handler bucket is 7ft 6. The hopper is wide enough for that isn’t it?
So higher the moisture the slower it does it is the rule of thumb?Yes fits it perfectly....it won’t roll it that quick if the moisture content of the sample is higher, it’s only because the barley I’m currently using is quite dry
In my experience yesSo higher the moisture the slower it does it is the rule of thumb?
I don’t know much about milling
Thank you for your helpIn my experience yes
No problem...if you need to know anything else just messageThank you for your help
Your saying approx 4ton per hour?Different horses for different courses, but I'm not happy at any more than setting 2.5/3, when it'll take 20/25 mins. I can imagine a lot more if opening it up, as a little makes a big difference. Mine has notches, newer ones a screw that can be set anywhere?
Agree fine with 7'6" bucket, probably tonne and half of wheat, bit less barley.
Why do you run it on a setting that low out of curiosity ?Different horses for different courses, but I'm not happy at any more than setting 2.5/3, when it'll take 20/25 mins. No more than 3t, I'd say. I have 1 fluted and 1 ribbed roller, after having to replace one and the gear pair at the back.Your saying approx 4ton per hour?
Do you have fluted rollers?
I get too many untouched grains otherwise. Why do you run it on a setting that low out of curiosity ?
When was the last time you adjusted the rollers? No more than 3t, I'd say. I have 1 fluted and 1 ribbed roller, after having to replace one and the gear pair at the back.

@Wakely grain mills
I’d say it’ll be costing more in diesel and time rolling that slow than an odd grain slipping through....we adjusted ours with feeler gauges and Setting 4.5 seems to roll it perfect but I guess not all the sameNot long ago. Advice I was given was they should nip 2 pieces of paper, but not 1. Yes, there is a bit of wear, but not crazy. It'll have done 2500t, but was never fast.
I am fussy.
It’ll do that p!ssI would need it to do between 7 and 10 ton a week. It will be fine for that won’t it?
Or would I be wishing for the next model up
