Fields here that have never had water standing as very stoney etc are currently acres of surface water, thankfully nothing can actually flood here like they can on the flatter parts. Very surprised the local fire service haven’t been called out to any floods in the last 12 months with all the rain we’ve been having mind

Winds gonna pick up to 80 mile an hour so ive just been told , on about Boxing day.

I should imagine to do that it will back around to a full on SWesterly more as per 'normal '... because atm its coming from the SSE so its a bit cool as well as wet :cautious:

You would want to be at Sea atm.

Where are you? It's blowing a gale from due North here... and it is also 'cooling'.

Water is about 18” off the top of the drains around here, much higher than summer levels. Have been on the blower to the drainage board and apparently they are manning the pumps!

Wheat after potatoes, never seen water lay like this on this field. Looks like a re drill in the spring 😔

Anglia update: Weather Forecast:

A few light showers on Christmas day, those mostly confined along the east coasts of Norfolk and Suffolk, elsewhere dry with sunny spells. A chilly start to the night with a widespread frost, but milder conditions pushing from the west overnight with some rain possible. Cloudy on Boxing day with spells of light showery rain around and mild, but breezy.

Blustery overnight and into Sunday morning with heavy rain, leading to some large rainfall totals and a risk of flooding, accompanied by gusts widely around 50-60mph at times. Rainfall totals of 10-15mm widely in western parts of the region Saturday night, perhaps locally a little higher. Rain clearing southeastwards on Sunday with sunshine and wintry showers following, ahead of a cold night with widespread frost. Further rain, sleet and snow at times through Monday, with another chilly night to come, albeit the confidence in any details remains very low at this stage.
