You’d be better off starting them on oats at that age plus if you do feed barley you’ll need some protein, SBP would be ideal and minerals in. If you have it balanced correctly I’d just give them it ad lib

As @Northeastfarmer suggests , or I would buy a 18% protein blend and start on that and gradually mix in your rolled barley increasing it slowly till the blend is used up ,but ad lib is the way forward .

Have you got your own Barley? if they are six months old what have you been feeding them? I take them up to 2kgs/day concentrate and then flat line, but it depends on the quality of your forage. Don't stint on quality grub at this stage or you will pay for it later, this is when they are growing frame.

Only got barley and want to save on the blend I’m using now.

Yes own barley , been on a blend till now just want to use what I got and add what ever else is needed to get a ration

Been feeding a course mix blend , want to use some of my own barley to help substitute. I know I will have to add to the ration but always weary when using barley What levels to add

One part soya to 5 parts rolled barley plus minerals is a simple old fashioned blend which will allow you to maximise your barley usage.

you don't need much soya, so while dear, it works out cheaper.

or, we have used a blend formula with barley, but use our own barley instead, not a bad way to do it. Just buy the blend, minus the barley.
