I'm getting a few maiden heifers with warts growing on thier teats. Is there any particular reason for them growing & does anybody have any good solutions on prevention and cure??

Between 2009 and 2015 most of the weaned calves in my herd had some warts, often the heifers had them on their teats. As my herd is closed since about 2012, I assume the cattle have become immume to the virus as there is no warts this year and only a few last year. Took 6 years though!

That's my only comment, may not be that helpful.

We never had any warts on our cattle until we took over my FIL's ground. I noticed (albeit too late), that the neighbour's heifers there were "smittled" with warts, and, sure enough, so were ours until we stopped grazing anything there. Our cattle and the neighbour's had no direct contact with each other. As Choochter says, it took a few years to become wart free again!
