Was she telling the truth.

I don`t disagree but you can`t use that sort of language against a political opponent let alone an overall description of political opponents. Why did she not mention the "scum" in her own party? I hope the Labour party don`t get rid of her any time soon.
The unfortunate thing is that the term could probably be applied to a good number of politicians on either side.

Can you identify any Conservative politician who you would regard as scum?

One or two of them might be regarded as naive, or even a bit of a chancer, but certainly not scum.

I'll await judgement on Claudia Webbe (Independent but Labour really) until after the court case

Dear Angela has previous form and was hauled over the coals a year ago for calling another opposition MP scum. She apologised on that occasion but has clearly not learned her lesson. That may also account for her absence of academic qualifications.

It's easy to be judgemental of other people when you dont know all the facts, but its noticeable that those on the left of the political debate are generally more abusive of those that disagree with them

That's right. I enjoy listening to R4 but it does get a bit wearing when everyone on it sounds like they were privately schooled in southern England.
personally i would quite like the bbc to go back to speaking like mr chumley warner and wearing dinner jackets to do the evening news... at least then we might be spared some of the guardian reading tosh!

Then we’d get back on track. The conservatives wouldn't try to be the party of the working class led by a man with more kids from different women than Snoop Dog and Labour would know who they were representing.

And who precisely is the working class. I suppose they are diametrically opposite to the non working class, in which case the latter are probably the category with the highest proportion of Labour voters. Working class is an outdated term much used by followers of an outdated political party.

I still consider the working class to be those who are at the bottom of the pay ladder those for whom the trickle down of wealth hasn’t reached. Once upon a time they could be found in coal mines, steel works, ship yards etc and by virtue of numbers and organisation had a voice. Now they’re to be found working in take aways , distribution warehouses, pack houses etc however they are a fragmented group and difficult to organise so have little if any voice often they are recent or second generation immigrants people the traditional workng class look down upon hence their move to the right eg the so called Red Wall in the north. It’s interesting when politicians talk about Brexit providing oppurtunities for British workers leasing to increased salaries when they were the people who set the minimum wage surely they could have raised it before to encourage people. The working class are those who don’t have a voice i’d say. My daughter has been waitressing this holiday she cycles 6 miles in at 4 pm and 6 miles home at 10 pm. The other night they weren’t busy so they sent here home after two hours obviously they weren’t going to be paying for the full shift. She has had a job chopping fruut in a packhouse where they time people going to the toilet for longer than five minutes gets you a half an hour pay deduction. Yes you might consider the term outdated and obviously lots of people aren’t keen to be classed as working class anymore but there’s still a lot of them out there and when the Labour party gets itself sorted out and stops worrying about wooing middle class transgender whoevers and gets back to what it should be doing which is representing the poorer in society then hopefully it will become the opposition the UK needs and will force the Conservatives away from its current position and back to being a party that promotes less Government interference in all aspects of life.

Nigel Farage spoke about this the other day.
Within hours of being labeled vermin, the Tories had started The Vermin Club.
Boris and his chums have no sense of old of thinking outside the box.
