Drag the car out of the way. You want a dozer blade fitted. They would be the first people to complain and want a public inquiry if they were trapped in a car or house and the fire service were delayed.
The trouble is (especially if the Fire Authority is Council run as opposed to Unitary Authority), the paperwork involved - especially for the appliance driver - is unbelievable

I understand but its about time the law was changed for emergency vehicles. On new housing developments it a bloody nightmare for the bin man never mind a fire engine. The general public are so thick, and have no thought for anyone else. I used to drive a snowplough gritter and packed in after nearly 30 years due to thick drivers not leaving enough room and trying to claim that we had damaged there car with grit or hit it with the plough.

Years ago I was told if you were responding and had a minor incident, you just gave the other driver the station you were from and carried on.

I'm told Martock came over the Parrett bridge and smashed a bus mirror coming the other way. They told him "Martock" and carried on.

A few weeks later they met the bus in the same tight spot and yes you guessed it. The appliance driver reversed back and wound his window down. The bus driver said "Don't tell me; Martock" .....

3rd major roof fire this winter last night.
Heat transfer from from woodburner flue. Again
Timber framed construction with lots of voids allowing rapid fire spread. Again
Supposedly fire retardant paper insulation which isn't. Again
There's a pattern developing here.

Occupants tried to fight it for half an hour before calling us. But it came in as a chimney fire so only 1 pump (us) initial attendance.:banghead: I made up on arrival but next nearest pump was 15 minutes away.
Ended up with 5 pumps and an ALP there.

Is there an enhanced PDA for wood burner fire then Dave? Only enhanced if thatched around here.

Standard PDA house is 2, persons 3 as far as I recall

No. Would just have helped if they'd told Control it had spread to the roof, in which case it would have become a property fire, 2 full size pump PDA and 2nd would have been there tight on our heels. Probably wouldn't have made a difference to the eventual outcome but we were only riding 5 so a few extra bods and another tank of water straight away certainly wouldn't have hurt.

How can you miss a 200W yelper and alternating headlamp flashers and a big red machine 2,4m x 3m frontage with blue lamps?

The answer, as we both know, appears to be "very easily". Our EFAD instructor (who I tagged in your FB post) used to say if you hadn't made eye contact with the driver, or had some other visual signal to say they'd seen you, to work on the principle they hadn't.
