Waste Oil Disposal Outlets / Costs?

Just had a ludicrous quote through for disposing of ~ 700 litres of mixed waste oil from the farm workshop. What do others do / roughly what should it cost to do it properly and receive a waste transfer note? Thanks!

Would the cost of them taking 100 litres be substantially less ? If so, then send 100 litres in order to get the waste transfer note and use the rest on-farm ? Or local garage let you put in in their waste tank for a Christmas drink ? There's always a way.

Never had that much to be a problem, always had a few 6x3 posts drying in a shed, all waste oil was poured into a 40 gallon open topped barrel with a gallon or two of creosote, dry posts stood up in barrel for a month or two, my oldest fence is over thirty years old, only damage is strimmer man has reduced them to 3x2 at the base.

Probably sounds daft but as a general rule, the more you waste oil you have the cheaper it is to collect. The waste oil has a value once recycled which goes towards the cost of collecting and recycling, however with the drop in oil prices there won’t be much margin in it at the moment.
I can remember when I use to get paid for waste oil, now I have to pay to get it removed!

I use Oil Salvage, it’s usually between £80-90 to empty an IBC.

Or oil used to be picked up by a chap from the Festiniog railway, apparently they used to soak logs in it to fire the engines. Sadly now it is not considered green
