Watch out, Nemo about!

All this nice weather and more on the way next week, likely see big hatches of Nemotodirus Battus. I had a few early lambs I white drenched today as they have just started bad scour last 48hrs, main flock lambs only 2 weeks so hoping peak risk will have passed when they are consuming big quantities of grass.

Here's the forecast for those unfamiliar: https://www.scops.org.uk/forecasts/nematodirus-forecast/
How old were the lambs you dosed?

that's what I were thinking, its been freezing this past week or so
terribly cold here now, worst its been all winter, new born lambs starving outside...we are nearly finished but really feel for the hill boys who are just starting...but at least its dry....but almost would be better wetter and milder,we must get away from that perishing east wind.

yes its been same here, the lambs outside havn't grown as well this past week as the previous 1, Its pea soup as well this morning but not as cold(1st time no frost for over a week)

should improve now as week goes on and maybe a short sharp shower or 2 wouldn't go amiss

Fields have taken a real battering this last week - 10 days... we were looking good for grass but the place is really bare now! As you say, worst it's been all winter. It's a bit of a sickener.

Oldest lambs are 6 weeks now. If it heats up like they are forecasting this weekend I'll be needing to do some dosing...

It was looking like it was gonna be the perfect winter and spring wasnt it but we always get a spanner in the works,Its amazing how quickly it withers the grass away that east wind...what bit of grass there is is blue now, still caking ewes hard when i had hoped to be giving over.
Hopefully start to grow again now!

i have to agree was thinking same, mine keep chosing spots where normal prevailing wind from west north west gives cover, with this wind directing catches them out and if they do0nt get licked off get hell of a chill had to bring a few in other day, today much better much more milder and no frost.

Just checked the SCOPS forecast and no surprise we're orange risk here 🤪 going to have to gather everything and dose the older lambs (March born).
Think we dodged a bullet last year because we weren't dosing until marking at the end of May. It was a pretty cold Spring too, not like this year
I've heard of some people dosing very young lambs just now but I don't think that seems a good idea for a 2-week old lamb to have that fired into its guts?? Plus the risk of getting trampled in the pens.
What do others do?

Problem is, when you see the signs of nemo on those lambs, it’s too late. I’ve just been given some free gr@zin, but ewes and lambs on last year. So memo very much on my mind with the recent rain

I was surprised to hear that my neighbour had found Nemo eggs in a dung sample, really surprised that you are so high risk! Hoping my April lambs might miss the big hatch in that case. I do FECs over the danger period but nine times out of ten they need dosed last week of May. Maybe not the case this year?

Looked at SCOPS, it doesn't read well - lots of places very high risk already...

However, I can't see Nemo being an issue yet. Been far too cold - even with the rain we have had since Saturday, there's no great heat. I have ordered my white wormer and cocci, but I don't expect to need to use either for another 2-3 weeks

Same as @Woolless , rarely need to do anything with Nemo til late May, almost doesn't matter what the weather does
