Water Borehole

Have a borehole here that I have had endless problems with. It originally had an invereter, but this kept cutting out so eventually replaced it with a 5000 litre buffer tank and boost pump. This worked fine for a while but the boost pump could not cope with the high iron content of the water and I have just gone through my second pump in 2 years. I am certain that there should have been filters to take out the iron, but the original supplier has no interest and I have given up on him.
When the borehole is working, it is great. Water bills dropped massively, but I am now spending way too much time trying to sort problems with it and am fed up with the cattle being without water. Does anyone know someone who would be able to come out and have a look at it and sort the thing out once and for all before I go completely mad!!! I am in the Newcastle/Northumberland area.

Prob not the answer you want but your probably best reading up you self, loads of places sell pump filters etc for what you need, if you get and install it then you can maintain it.

I have a spring which i had to add a uv filter and general filter to,i just maintain it as required.

got the stuff from here

Im lucky theres no iron but its a tad acidic at 6.5

Dales Water near Ripon are good.
Have spoken to them twice and emailed 3x with details - no repsonse. I even asked them to let me know if they are not interested - again no response. Think I have had it with them now. If someone is not interested in selling you something, they are not going to be interested in looking after you if something goes wrong. It's a shame as I had heard good things about them.

It has got to the point that I have just spent far too much time on it and it is dragging me away from other things that need doing. Just want someone to come and sort it. There is any amount of water there, it is just finding a method of getting it to the water troughs without it going wrong every other day! I should add that it is just for cattle and not residential.

Going to be quite expensive to sort as you'll need a large filtration element capable of back washing
We have similar with manganese and to do it properly was circa £15k

Witters from Preston did ours, we have high iron, manganese etc have a filter that regenerates every 4 days as the pipes would have a black slime build up inside the pipes restricting the flow if the there was no filter.
We put ours in 2010 and are on our 3rd pump 1st pump burnt out about 12 month from fitting, 2nd pump shorted out 3rd fingers crossed OK so far fitted 2 years ago.
Backup isn't to bad if you tell them you have no water at all they will get to you quicker, if they know you have mains backup you go on there jobs to do board and its first come first served basis.
The fitters are quite helpful and have the crack with you.

That does surprise me,but then I've not had dealings with them for around 20 years. Back then Eric Dalton was the man to speak to sort any problems, you're in their area i.e. North of England and Scotland.

Btw, have you had a water analysis done as that may determine what size filtration system when matched to your demand

My £15k quote was belt and braces
