Only been on about this today, we used to on some away ground years back, put a trough under the outlet pipe an just let it drip! That was for sheep, would need to be set up with pipe work an ball valve for cattle due to the amount they drink but would depend on how many in the field I guess

We have one to water outdoor pigs. Not got a trough but I took the back door off and drilled two holes near the front for mdpe pipe connectors. Took off the pump too and fill it via a pipe hole in the top.

Father has one, old slurry tanker, all welded up sealed etc then underneath at the lowest point there's a pipe welded on to attach a hose to connect too the water tank that's attached to the side of tanker, filled using a hose pipe takes 4hrs too fill

When I walked the Camino, in Galicia (North West Spain) I saw loads of them with the trough attached at the back, they were very small tankers, probably 800 gals or less, it was all very small fields too to be fair.

I have seen adverts on facebook for solar powered pumps, I would be inclined to think of something like that if no access to mains or a borehole supply. I have laid a lot of pipe (behind the fences, but on the surface) from the borehole, and added kiwi Tech portable troughs with quick attach fittings. Apart from wishing I had used 32mm pipe instead of 25mm, I have no complaints. I think if I had used to bigger pipe for the main, there would have been less pressure loss to the top fields. I also need to fit a drain, so I can empty the system for the winter.
