Water problem

Bu

but why has it’s stopped rising to that level since may time when cattle were last in shed? I can definitely get power to the trough area but what kind of thing would I put on to suck it through?

OK, please tell me you have isolator valves fitted to your troughs?

Nope no isolater valves fitted at this shed. The whole water system is a bit Heath Robison. Basically the main 50mm runs towards house then just before house I’m presuming it tees of from house then it comes out the ground to an outside tap which is where it gets sketchy. Basically blue piping ran along top of ground to the said sheds. Very rough and ready but has been like that and worked for last few years so never got round to burying pipe properly. As said before the house boiler hasn’t been functioning properly neither indicating drop in pressure but house filters etc been changed and okay . I might isolate the house in case somehow it’s causing a lock

OK,

Do you like getting wet, because you are going to have to decouple a fitting or two from abve ground level to see what is going on, but I would make some fittings up with stop valves to allow you to screw on to stop the flow out of the trough, as well as the pipe.

From here, you can couple up a pump to back flow the pipe network in a controlled manner and not waste too much water. You can also gauge the water level if I understand you correctly - that there are pipe feed runs over the surface of the land.

Basically you lift the pipe up while closed off via the valve you have fitted, then open it above the height of the trough / boiler. IF water comes out, you know the water is able to go above the level of the tank, so that is not the issue. You then can look at the next stages.

Question - does the house have water upstairs?

At the moment I have water running through the pipe 2 ft below trough level I lift the pipe up and it stops running but it used to at a good pressure . Yes house has upstairs water no header tanks or anything though. Combi boiler setup

OK,

If I understand you correctly and the trough is teed off from the house pipe: what feeds the house if you can get water up to the top floor - do you have a booster pump in the house - or unvented system?

Lots of good advice above. What is the max pressure you can get to at the combi boiler? Could be you have a leak somewhere...
Boiler only rises to 0.5 used to have to use quad type sprayer to put in fill loop to boost pressure to make it work but it was the hot water that gave us issues as combi boiler. We don’t live in house anymore but still have steading

No there’s no booster in the house it will just be gravity fed. I can’t get power out to spring tank

If the feed to the house is coming off the same spring, and can feed up two levels, then there is something amiss here.

I am understanding you correctly - the spring feeds the house, it T's off to feed the barns which is where your issue is.

Well yes but the boiler used to work better and something has dropped the pressure over the summer

If you can get 0.5 bar, that seems to indicate a height of the water feed to be circa 5 mtr. Does the upsatairs taps flow quite fast (ignore the hot water for now).

Yes there pretty decent

So, the upstairs house gets lots of flow, so head of water should easily pump to the level of the trough (I assume the trough is not up a hill and level with the upstairs level of the house)...
Does the boiler feed come off the same feed as the house - have you checked the filling loop for collapsed pipe?

For me, after following your comments, there is one point I would go to first. That is the T off from the house feed to the barns. I would tcrack that open and see what happens. Does it go through a reducer into the house also (50mm to 25)?

The house does sit low compared to the sheds so water has to rise after the house to trough a bit . The pipe coming in house is 25mm so there must be a reducer outside under concrete

It

takes a feed of the same pipe goi g to two not off the actual tap

OK, if you have a pump available, and the tap has a threaded outlet, you could use that tap to force water back up the pipe network to try and backflush the system to see if there are any blockages / air locks.
