Building Regs people up here in Scotland, tell me I need a 45000l water storage tank or pond for a fire water supply as the building we are trying to get a building warrant for has never been used for residential purposes and we have a private water supply. That's debatable but we've been held up long enough with bs,5 months and another story. Any ideas for a cheap fix? The building is to be a one bed with kitchen diner and bathroom,so pretty small with low conversion costs.£5-6000 for a new water tank as seen on line is adding considerably to the cost never mind digging the hole and plumbing it in to a rainwater supply .....Our soil type is sand and gravel. The soakaway test for the septic tank was interesting, even after considerable heavy rain it suggested we only needed a square metre of soakaway,so any pond would have to be well lined.Dont really want one anyway, there's enough open water hearabouts, just unfortunately not close enough.
