Water storage using IBCs.

Which pipe and fittings can be used to join ibc tanks together? I want to plumb them together at the outlet tap and thought of 50mm poly pipe ,but not able to join the tap to a compression fitting. Any other ideas would would be appreciated, thanks.

Buy brass tank connectors from builders/plumbers merchant, then either as mentioned above, make a fresh hole in the ibc and fit it through, or fit it in the ibc valves blanking cap (or buy them complete off "the bay").
Personally don't favour connecting to ibc valves. If we have a winter... the valve freezes and bursts first, ibc is now knackered/scrap. Where as proper mdpe pipe valves stand it better, or just use cheap 1/2" monkey metal valves. Yes they fail, but cheap n easy to swop and ibc is still good 👍

We make syphons out of kitchen waste pipe if paralleling grape fruit juice tanks. They look like giant staples with a leg in each tank. Avoids needing to hole the tanks low down and get it busted with frost. Use a vacuum pump to fill the syphons from a small tapping in the connecting pipe work then they keep the levels in all the tanks balanced as long as they keep up with sprayer draw out from one tank. Can be a pain if air leaks in and you lose the syphon but generally has been OK.

Can we fit all these fittings by ourselves?
Yes, no problem, I’ve done similar myself with plastic tank connectors, drill hole to size of tank connectors In ibc, slightly tricky lowering the tank connector into the ibc and pushing though the hole then screw on washer from outside.
Think I used a bit of thick wire with a bend on to lower tank connector into place.
I also had to buy a cheap holesaw to drill the hole, cheap ones with several different sizes in a pack can be bought for less than a tenner
