Water tank / bowser

We have an old steel tank previously used to store ammonia gas for injecting straw, but has been empty with valves open to air for about five years. We are short of drinking water for sheep on outlying land. Do you think that it would be OK to use this as a bowser regarding any possible residues of ammonia in the steel? Can't smell any ammonia in the tank. Thanks!

Give it a good swill, put some water in it, let some out into a bucket and let the dog drink it.... 1 of mine isn’t fussed and was drinking the footbath as I was topping it up mind :banghead:

Who said dogs take after their owners???:D

If you wouldn't drink the water yourself, don't expect your sheep to.

Exactly... there has been plenty of times where I’ve put fresh clean water available for the dogs and yet they drink the muddy puddles
