Evening all.
I’ve got a new fert Spreader on the way, is it worth waxoilng it before I use it? We wash them off after we’ve used it but you can never get them spotlessly clean I find. Would the fert stick to the wax oil? Or should I spray it 50/50 with diesel and hydraulic oil on a regular basis instead? Our old one (vicon) is showing some bits of corrosion after 7 years.

Our vicon sower is washed and oiled after every outing. Takes time but the sower is into its fourth season and still in excellent condition.

I’ve never oiled our ZAM1200 and it’s lasted 24 years. I power wash it at the end of every days spreading. I think that would take any wax oil off.
It’s going where the steel hoppers meet the stainless steel hopper bottoms that hold the shutters and agitators. Difficult to get every bit of fertiliser out of that gasketed joint. If they’d made it stainless all the way up it would last for ever.
The hopper screens are also quite delicate now.
