I have some picona to spray on my winter barley, however it has just emerged. Can I still get away with applying it? It says no later than growth stage 30 on the label.

TIA

James
No problem, spray away. Growth stage 30 will occur in March next year.... but for useful weed control you want to get it on sooner rather than later.

Picona is a general broad-leaved weed and annual meadow grass herbicide. Mostly residual with some contact activity on small broad-leaved weeds. For meadow grass control needs to go on early and before grass gets bigger than 2 leaves

As already said, you'll be fine anytime up to gs30. I'd just try to avoid spraying before a cold night/frost.
I used to always spray my barley at 3 leaves to tie in with a bydv spray and mn but this last few years I've become more disappointed with its performance on amg and blw so this year I'm going through next week, the most forward barley will be 2 leaves.

I use to do the same and try to combine with bydv spray but found the same as you regarding amg.
Ready to go today but wb caught it's first frost this morn and another likely tonight. What gap do you leave after a frost?

I get them all the time. My moment this week was nearly going from pre-em WW with glyphosate in to post em WB without washing out....
Did it last year.:banghead:

I very near put glypho in the pre em about 8 days after drilling, just thought id bob to field in pickup to check wind... good job no glypho drill crossovers were through and better areas of field, so that 1/2" of barley would probably have taken the glypho in real well!!!

herd of a big house employing a fancy gardener to spray the rubbish out of their lawns (small ride on mower size tractor and boom sprayer) he had used glypho last and just drained tank to nothing then filled up and started … burnt a fare area of this posh lawn off!!!
