What a weekend for most of us? Fine, sunny and with temperatures in the high 20's summer certainly announced it's arrival.

There are hints of a minor breakdown at the weekend, and more rain in the north and west of Scotland.

Have been following your forecasts for the last 18 months and very good predictions. I received a rather unpleasant forecast from a competitor today that suggests August could be a very different story to this month due to the jet stream moving south. Would you agree with this wet/windy unpleasant outlook? What is the upper atmosphere doing to suggest this? Be interested to read your thoughts!

UK Outlook for Thursday 25 Jul 2013 to Thursday 8 Aug 2013:

The balance of probability suggests conditions in late July being fairly similar to those of mid-July. As such southern regions are most likely to see periods of dry and settled weather with above average sunshine and temperatures and below average rainfall. Northern regions, meanwhile, remain most likely to be affected by bouts of changeable, unsettled weather. There are then some signs of some of these more changeable conditions spreading further south during early August.
