if January Kalends be summerly gay,
Will be wintery weather till the Kalends of May.

When the sunbeam comes on St Bridget's day,
The snow will be here before May day. ( That kind of goes along the same lines as Candlemas day 1st and 2nd of Feb)

When the grass is dry at morning light,
look for rain before the night.

When moorhens build their nests low down close to the water, it will be a dry summer. But when they build high on the pond or in the bushes, expect a wet season. I took note of this last summer and they built a good 2 foot above the water table, when the water was at its highest piont it just touched the bottam of their nest

You best keep your eye on them then..... and let us know what to expect..!
