Red sky at night, Fawley's alight.Red sky at night Shepard delight, red sky in morning..........barns on fire.
I thought they also said
"Rain In May plenty of corn and hay"
Chap who used to work for us always insisted that there would be a ,plum tree winter. .In other words expect some cold wintry weather when the blossom is on the damson trees!
When moorhens build their nests low down close to the water, it will be a dry summer. But when they build high on the pond or in the bushes, expect a wet season. I took note of this last summer and they built a good 2 foot above the water table, when the water was at its highest piont it just touched the bottam of their nest
That's still two inches too high!fingers crossed it right earlier today i saw moorhens building there nest about 2 inches above the water level in the pond in the yard
The blossom on my damson tree has been blown away for the last 4 years...........resulting in no damson gin for ChristmasChap who used to work for us always insisted that there would be a ,plum tree winter. .In other words expect some cold wintry weather when the blossom is on the damson trees!
