Get the widest one you can pull. It doesn't like high speed - the discs flick the seed out. I looked at a 6m one but for max 8 kph I'd need an 8M one to do the same workload as a tine drill I could do 12 kph with. Great design and they are continually improving it too. @Badshot has one.

Like you, I'm also hunting for a decent disc drill. I've got a JD 750A coming today, a Horsch Avatar some time this week, and a Virkar Dynamic (leading disc then a tine coulter) when they've sorted a design tweak so I can drill into chopped straw with it. Sly Boss (also an angled slot like the Weaving) and Sky Easydrill (Moore Unidrill based coulter) are also worth a look.

Have a look around the DD Machinery forum. Lots of expertise and experience in there too.

Thanks

So much choice out there now! And I'm a bit of a sceptic, DD's have gone in and out of fashion that's for sure!

8kph is bloody slow!

I've seen the SLY and SKy drills at Agritechnica a year or two ago but they do look a bit niche/not wells supported in the UK maybe.

Sky is marketed by Opico dealers, so coverage is good. Sly’s importer is in the east and I don’t know how many they have over here.

I don’t like the Sky, despite years of using Unidrills. They disturb too much soil and the disc angle isn’t quite right yet. Great concept and an evolving design too.
