If there's soil building up in my experience it's probably too wet really.
Mine was getting some in there because of the few, once that went it was fine.

Finally able to make a start today.
Set up on a field with only bard soil and dead cover

Probably wasn’t the best place to start, but was the safest to be in & out of the cab to see what was going on 😬
Only 12 acre and managed to get 4 acres done between wheel cleans ( scrapers ordered now )

Went a lot better and run cleaner where the green cover was, even started to clean the wheels.

Was impressed how it kept going towards the end in the rain. Just hope it all grows now 🤞

It will keep going in ridiculously wet conditions, and in undisturbed soil far wetter than is sensible to be out in.

I’m taking my wheel scrapers off as the block up with crud and stop the wheels turning having to change all my wheel bearings aswell now due to the side loading of blocked scrapers

Do you get a lot of bearing trouble
I'm sure further back in this thread @Badshot and @Case290 have been replacing bearings
I've not changed any wheel bearings, or small disc bearings yet. Must be on about 1000ha now. I have changed a dozen main disc bearings though, but they all seem to go in very hard conditions.
I've had none since it softened up again.

Only replaced a couple of disc bearings when fitting new discs this time wheel bearings were fine then but was fitting new disc scrapers 300 acres later and found a couple of wheel bearing gone but most have a lot of play so changing them all

l do not use scrapers if it is that sticky I get too may blocked coulters and the soil sticks to the inside of the big disc on the gd this then flick s out to much seed
but the bigger problem is poor establishment because it is too wet

this happened with the Moore drill and the combi drill before that the accord before that and the bam ford disc drill before that
when it is too wet stop a poor crop is worse than no crop

I have changed most of my wheel bearings the original gd did not have the plastic bearing protectors
we are now on our 3rd set of big discs small discs are now re-laced with warn down big discs
in hard dry conditions going slower helps with bearing life and there is not the urgency to get done quicker
but also with dryer soil we can go for longer into the night ,once it is moister it never drill very well at night was the case with all the above drills
but when it is moister faster forward speed in day time is fine so can still do over 150 acres a day

in Hard dry condition with a Moore drill I have had the discs And bearings hot to the touch when going 12 plus k
a 9 m at 9km is much better than 6m at 14 km in terms of cost per acre

With the weather improving again, I remember it being mentioned of moving the press wheel position so it presses to the side of where the seed is.
Has anyone done this for late drilling?
