Weaving GD user thread

No you can’t. It’s a real problem. The red crosses are simply the drill indicating that it’s not seeding which is what happens on the headlands anyway. They need to get it sorted.
Hi, This is why i think it is something to do with the top depth switch. Either the rams have retracted letting the switch go to neutral, (which might be your valve issues doing that)??? or somehow the switch has gone to neutral by itself.

Apparently there's a sensor in the motor and one on the shaft to sense if the drive has broken between the motor and the metering mechanism, but if both aren't turning and you are travelling with it in the ground in work, there's no alarm for that eventuality unless you spot the red crosses have suddenly come on which i never seen as they are so small. I think we are going to have to install a stand alone sensor to monitor the metering mechanism, trouble is the alarm will go off when the mechanism stops when lifting out of work! It only does it a few times a year but its a worry as some time in the future it may do it 5 times a day.

It’s part of the Rds box to do with the micro switch

I have my drill with a magnet on the lever in the cab which was good with the magnum but not so good on the new Holland t7

the best system would be gps auto on /off as the sprayer and Fert spreader have but need another unlock

we do now have a camera on the metering device

i have had the metering device jam with a bolt which must have come from the seed plant and a stone on home saved beans

After visiting groundswell, which most of you are probably on the way home from, I’m Thinking about putting placement fertilizer in with seed this autumn. Have two hoppers and an oil cooler/air warmer so seems simple enough, how to people clean out the hopper and metering system afterwards? I don’t fancy putting the pressure washer in there. Also what products and quantities are people using? Thanks Ed

The 2 fields of Winter Barley we drilled with the GD, yielded 2 tonnes/ha more than the Ploughed and Combi’d fields.
The Winter Linseed was all drilled with the GD and has yielded about 2 tonnes/ha.

Today we started the wheat. This is some drilled with the GD.

Very happy with this Extase. No T0, no T3 and just 165KgsN/ha.
Only one field of wheat Ploughed and Combi drilled. Yielding about 8 tonnes/ha

Really struggling with chopped straw and drilling OSR, cant seem to be able to cut through to get seed to soil contact. Its chopped well, short stubble due to brackling, beginning to wish I'd baled it.
Any suggestions ?
Tempted to try the short discs to get a bit of mix, but that feels like a backwards step.

No sure you need to worry too much. Rape will happily grow under chopped straw. Auto-cast worked well.

I’ve no answer but are the discs fairly new.id allwAys imagined with these drills the discs have to be very sharp to work efficiently on these drills in other than perfect conditions

How bad is it?

I have issues, but sharp discs normally cut through most of it

It's remarkable how little effect it has on the crop in the end

I’ll try and get some pictures if it shows up enough to see anything.
Discs sharp and wheels in the air to add as much weight to the discs as possible, running at 6kph

I’d been thinking that, but it looks like it’s laying in straw in the slot, job to see the OSR as it’s black seed on black land, but the white DAP Fert prills going down with the seed are a helpful guide
