Not sure if that gives an idea of what the slots like and the amount of straw pushed in

Unless every Coulter and the full length of every drill is like that I wouldn't worry.
The first rape I drilled looked a bit like that, it went on to do nearly 2 ton an acre.
Rubbish seasons ever since have kept it lower though, the weather has more effect than hairpinning.
I also drill twice with small seed.
Either a companion crop, or half rate the actual crop.
It seems beneficial.

There is a lot like that, will be interesting to see if there’s any difference in the area that burnt and a little bit that gif very lightly disced putting the fire out

Well done two fields with mu shiny new GD. I’ve already had a disc fall off plus various oil leaks where fittings on hoses hadn’t been tightened up properly at the factory.

I had a fair go at Simon and Mike about this I like my drill and when I ordered it they were struggling to make them but they agreed to make mine as I was a repeat customer but it just wasn’t finnished nothing was tight it just needed a man on it for a day to go through it. My previous drill was their demonstration machine and was perfect

Looking closer, is that on peat? The discs need firm soil to give resistance to enable a clean cut.

I'd say that's the issue then.
Not enough resistance for the discs to cut against.

Really struggling with chopped straw and drilling OSR, cant seem to be able to cut through to get seed to soil contact. Its chopped well, short stubble due to brackling, beginning to wish I'd baled it.
Any suggestions ?
Tempted to try the short discs to get a bit of mix, but that feels like a backwards step.

On the whole, yes they do.
But not inches of it.
But they need to be sharp.
The gd gets sharper with use, so long as it's not stony ground.

Tine drill was useless last year so sold it, only got the GD now so currently no other option other than try

That looks really good , I bet your guy finds it nice to use after the caddy/sabre/Boblincs hybrid .

The Caddy did not give us enough lift at the back on the Sabre conversion, and was a very long combination. Still one or two things to sort out, the hopper emptying flaps on the metering system are not the Weaving type so need updating as they will not open, you have to empty out through the seed metering. We are very pleased with the setup, and are planning to trial drilling maize with it next year, as we will be able to get the depth we need with no seed dressing.
