We've not used seed flaps, but found that we have to reduce forward speed to around 7 kph to stop the discs flicking the beans onto the surface.Hi do seed flaps help with drilling beans? Last year my gd was a disaster with beans flicking on to the surface on some ground. Many thanks
I found speed reduction is important, and if there's any soil build up from being too moist on the inside of the discs that will flick seed up and out of the slot.Hi do seed flaps help with drilling beans? the usual problem is drilling when it is no dry enoughI might sound harsh on Weavings but not the intention. To sell a drill that cannot be easily adapted to reasonable conditions and place seed reasonably perfectly is poor in my view.
They have had a lot of time to develop a better scraper /seed firmer but still nothing.
When the Massey University scientists developed the cross slot they had as part of their trial drilling in slightly damp conditions as that is part of reality when no till drilling.the usual problem is drilling when it is no dry enough
wait 2 days and it works perfectly
the window can be very short or non existant if it rains evert 3 days
soil texture makes a big difference
most of all patience is the most important skill
in the spring waiting is critical 2 weeks later often produces better results
in the autumn the opposite 2 weeks earlier
having a drill that goes in wetter conditions is self defeating

leaving residue or cover crop residue on the surface it is very seldom in my experience that you get perfect soil conditions and usually there is some stickiness to the soil but not saturated. Very difficult in our soil to not get any soil sticking to the disc of a weaving gd. And then planting the seed at varying depths. While the drill is reasonably well designed this seed flicking and poor placement is a major flaw in my view.
The invoice for my drill describes it as 130 litres.Does anyone know what the small internal tank capacity is on the new trailed gd is? Can't seem to find it on the weaving site. TIA
I had it once but it wouldn’t work at all so had to run it in constant speed for the day and never had that problem since is it a bad area for signal that’s all I put it downAnybody else having problems with the seed roller stopping?
I’ve got the RDS box connected to the drill’s own satellite .
This evening the forward speed kept going to a yellow background instead of white and the seed roller that shows it is turning with black rotating icon stops.
Also all the top coulter icons go from Green to red.
In the top left corner of the box it usually shows a tractor with an arrow moving forward. This disappears and a figure appears that might be the forward speed there instead.
The satellite has a green light and a red light.
Sometimes the red light flashes.
I have no idea when it does all this if the feed roller is still turning or not.
What is going on?
Thanks @ih1455xl .I had it once but it wouldn’t work at all so had to run it in constant speed for the day and never had that problem since is it a bad area for signal that’s all I put it down
Cripes now your asking it was on the little small box what box has your one gotThanks @ih1455xl .
How do you tell it to simulate a constant speed?
I had this with our sabre tine the other day I rung Weaving and spoke to Ed pockock and he suggested it would be a bad connection on one of the plugs to the control box and another one down by the wiring box on the front of the drill. A bit of wd40 sorted itAnybody else having problems with the seed roller stopping?
