Weed suppressant membrane

Hi, I'm planting up a small area (about 10 x 20 m) of permanent pasture with fruit bushes (blackcurrant, gooseberry, rasberry) just for the family and glampers. I was going to put that woven black weed suppressant membrane over the area and plant the bushes through it so I don't have to spend hours weeding but now I'm thinking maybe that will mess up the soil microorganisms in the area and be bad for the fruit bushes. So what's the answer? Use it but cut quite large holes to plant into so the soil round the roots is OK? Not use it at all? Any comments welcome

On that size area you will be fine.
Cover it with woodchip to make a nice clean area. Be aware, it does not stay weed free forever and allowing any weeds that do take hold to flower and set seed speeds it up very quickly.
