Weed wiper - what's the typical rate of liquid usage?

Trying to build/bodge a simple weed wiper for the front of the quad, and whilst I am getting on fairly well I need to find a way of putting the liquid onto the rollers. I plan to use drip irrigation fittings directly above them and either run it from a pumped or (preferably) gravity source. Either is possible, I think, just by tweaking the number and size of outlets and/or the supply pressure. I could do with some advice/ anecdotal information on typical rates of weedkiller consumption, to help set it up. Wiper part is just over 2metres wide.

Any advice welcomed.

Old mate has a Cdax wiper about 20 foot wide. 60 litre tank on the drawbar and an electric pump on a controller, that just pulses the pump on/off.
60 litres seems to go an awful long way, he just tows it behind a Hilux and aims to overlap a bit to avoid misses, heavy rushes a tank may do 10 acres? Strong mix though.

Surely running in front is going to result in two dead wheelings from transfer to tyres?

Good point! Planning to copy this.

But perhaps will rear mount it instead. So far, cost is around £25 inc vat and all in should be under £50 - too much for the bodging thread, but a decent saving over buying even a scrap one.

i might be wrong but thats just pvc pipe glued together, im not so sure the two pvc legs will like having to put up with heavy rushesunless your just planning on doing the very tops of them.

im with Badshot, using in front will just leave a lot of dead tracks about the place.
if i was looking to lick rushes id be making up something i could tow.

Agreed re the pipes - and expensive ones at that. The £375 doesn't include any pump or tank. I've "invested" £15 in buying my own plus fittings to see how it will work, but no great expectations to be fair. If it survives tall thistle and nettle in former horse paddocks then that will be a start. If it's not right, I'll mount it on a towable chassis.
