Low pressure is to the northeast of Scotland on Saturday. A chilly west to northwest flow covers the country. The flow is unstable and showers troughs will be bringing showers.
The showers tending to be most frequent across northern and western Scotland, western England, western Wales and the north and west of Ireland. Showers falling as snow over the hills of Scotland, northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
More eastern and southern areas will tend to be drier and brighter with some decent spells of sunshine here. A few showers may affect the far southeast at first, courtesy of a trough clearing into the continent.
Later in the day a deepening area of low pressure southwest of Ireland will be pushing fronts north and east bringing cloud and rain to southern Ireland and southwest England, together with increasing winds.
Winds mainly W 18-25kt (F5-F6) in Scotland, SW 12-16kt (F4) in southern England and Wales.

Note uncertainty on Sunday in the position of the area of low pressure. A significant change for England and Wales with low pressure centred somewhere over eastern England. Fronts wrapped around the low bringing cloud and rain, some of it heavy at times and lasting for much of the day in central and eastern areas. Feeling very cold. The winds increasing to gale force too with some snow on hills. Tending to turn drier and brighter in northwest England, west Wales and southwest England later with the winds slowly easing.
Low pressure continues to affect Scotland, with a weak occluded fronts in the north and west. This is going to be bringing showers, but overall it will be brighter and drier in Scotland and Ireland than across England and Wales. Just watch for cloud and showers or outbreaks of rain on eastern coasts of Scotland.
Winds mainly SW-W then NW across southern areas, 25-30kt but gusting 45kt (F7-F8 gusting F9). Mainly N-NE 25-35kt (F7-F8) in the west and northwest of Wales and England, and mostly NE 12-15kt (F4) in Scotland but ENE 20-28kt (F6) in the south of Scotland..
